Our approach

The Project is designed so that each person has a role in the ideas that make our project what it is,  that they take responsibility and have the confidence to join in and take reasonable risks.

This allows each person to develop skills in independence, team work and the work environment and to build confidence.

a person centered approach

Key skills practiced in the day to day running of the project include

  •     Planning and shared decision making
  •     Problem solving
  •     Communication and social skills
  •     Understanding, negotiation and compromise
  •     Making informed choices
  •     Recording what they have done and reflecting upon their experiences in a group.

We support people to be part of both group and individual projects that are set in real life situations with positive outcomes, which they evaluate and assess throughout the activities. Project members have regular opportunities to set aims and bring ideas to the group.

The Project is a well resourced environment which challenges and enables each person to discover and improve their strengths, skills and abilities. This is achieved through personalised and supported pathways. We find it helpful to focus on the seasons and project members set aims at the beginning of each season. These are reflected on at the end of the season and annually and help to inform both day to day planning and individual support plans.

Where we work

We believe that re connecting with our natural environments is vital in modern life. It is also of huge benefit for our mental and physical health. The way our project is set up and opportunities we provide all reflect this. Having this belief central to our project allows us to provide healthy and meaningful opportunities for our project members, allowing us to develop skills and grow as individuals.

Arrangements

The following information is a guideline and can be modified or altered to meet individual needs and preferences.

  •  Informal contact: An enquiry from a service user, Care manager, friend, family, carer or support worker.
  •  An appointment is made to make a visit to see and discuss the provision.
  •  An induction day is organised if funding is available. No charge is made for the induction day.
  •  A negotiated assessment is made involving all concerned to assess whether the identified needs can be met by the project.

The Project will aim to offer a provision to people across a wide range of Learning Disability, whilst recognising that the environment and resourcing has to be appropriate to meet individual needs and that realistic success needs to be experienced by all people using the Project.

The project is open Monday to Friday 9am-4pm, excluding public and bank holidays.
